1. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, salt, and pepper together.
2. Take the mixed spices and rub them all over the pork shoulder.
3. Once completely covered, place the pork shoulder in the slow cooker, pour the apple cider over it, and then cook on low for 10 hours.
4. Once that time is almost up, preheat oven to 350°F.
5. Transfer slow-cooked pork to a roasting pan or baking dish, pour ½ a cup of the slow cooker liquid over the pork, and roast for 20 minutes.
6. After that time, remove the pork shoulder from the oven, cut the fat cap off it, discard the fat cap, spoon another ¼ cup of the slow cooker liquid over the pork, and roast for another 15 minutes.
7. After that time, remove the pork shoulder from the oven, and shred it in the roasting pan or baking dish with two forks.
8. Once shredded, pour the BBQ sauce over the pork shoulder pieces, and toss everything together.
9. Once the pulled pork is sauced up, serve it on one of the hamburger buns, add slices of pickles to the sandwich, or serve the pickle on the side, and then dig in and enjoy!
