What does it cost for a consultation? What can I expect from a consultation? It cost absolutely nothing! Consultations are free. When you come into Herbal Magic, you'll meet privately with a trained Personal Health Coach who will take your weight and measurements, provide health screens, and cross-reference your medications. Your coach will then determine which of our customized programs and products will work best for you, as well as the date you will achieve your desired weight.

How much does a Herbal Magic program cost? Is it expensive? The cost of a Herbal Magic program depends on your weight loss goals, medical history, type of program and individual situation. We are not the cheapest weight loss company in Canada, nor are we the most expensive. We think (and our clients confirm this) that we offer the best value - our programs are designed to provide support, education and encouragement during the weight loss journey. You'll lose weight and you'll keep it off because we'll give you the tools to change your lifestyle and make healthy choices. Read one client’s perspective on the cost of the Herbal Magic program. What is your Guarantee of Satisfaction? Can I really get my money back? We currently offer a guarantee of satisfaction whereby clients who are compliant with our program and do not achieve their goal weight are entitled to a 100% refund on personal coaching services.

Do Herbal Magic clients get good results? Herbal Magic has operated in Canada since 1996. We now have more than 300 stores across Canada. We service some 40,000 clients each year. In 2009 a third party surveyed a random sample of more than 1,000 clients across the country, with 91% stating they were either satisfied or very satisfied with their results and the service they received. How much weight can I expect to lose on a weight loss program? Our clients, on average, lose two pounds a week. However, everyone is different and results may vary based on a number of factors, including an individual's personal weight history, body composition, level of physical activity, age and motivation.

Do I need to buy special foods while on a weight loss program? No. All Herbal Magic weight loss programs have a balanced, portion-controlled food plan containing all food groups (vegetables, fruits, meat, dairy, etc.). With Herbal Magic, you enjoy your own store-bought food. If you are interested in more information about food groups, the Canada Food Guide website is a valuable resource.

Can I eat out at restaurants while on a weight loss program? Preparing your own food is the best option, but we understand that sometimes you want to go out and enjoy yourself. You don't have to give up your social life. Our weight loss programs offer a Guide to Dining Out that allows you to enjoy eating out while making the most appropriate menu choices. We also offer an ethnic food guide. And you can have that glass of wine or cocktail in most cases.

Can I eat frozen foods while on a weight loss program? Yes. We understand that sometimes there just isn't time to prepare anything. That's why we offer a Guide to Prepackaged and Frozen Entrées to help you choose the right frozen food options. But remember - frozen is no substitute for fresh, healthy food. So enjoy in moderation.

I see advertising for weight loss programs everywhere - the internet, on TV on the radio, etc. How do I know which one to believe? If you search on the internet for weight loss solutions, you will no doubt encounter some negative experiences and feedback. Weight loss companies have been criticized in the media in recent years. Sometimes the criticism has been justified, sometimes it is been unfair. There have been unscrupulous companies that have tried to profit from a general lack of regulation. Herbal Magic has successfully helped Canadians lose weight (and keep it off) for 14 years. The Company has been under new ownership and management since February 2009. At the "new" Herbal Magic, we have made client service our top priority. We have also made significant investments in training and product development.

Can I go on a weight loss program if I am taking medications? Yes. At Herbal Magic, we have a unique Medical Cross-Reference System (MCRS) which ensures that only products compatible with your medications are recommended.

Is there a risk of interaction with Herbal Magic products and my prescription medication? At Herbal Magic, our foremost responsibility is client safety. During your consultation at Herbal Magic you fill out a health questionnaire, and will be asked about any prescription medication you are currently taking. That medication will then be cross-referenced in our online database to ensure the combination is safe. If it is not safe, or we require a physician's approval to continue, you will be told on the spot. Our proprietary system, known as MCRS, was developed from the Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database and the Natural Standards Database, as well as from research obtained from our internal extensive literature searches on all ingredients used in our products. This system is an online, real-time database, updated as new research emerges and new prescription drugs are approved. We are the only weight loss company in Canada with such an extensive cross-reference system.

Can I go on a weight loss program if I have any health concerns? Your health is our number one concern, so we'll review your health history very carefully and check it against our eligibility criteria to ensure that any given program is appropriate for you. Unfortunately, some people with certain health conditions are not advised to follow weight loss programs. Please consult one of our experts to see if you are eligible. You may require a physician's approval in some cases.

Can I take your products while on birth control? At Herbal Magic, we have a unique Medical Cross-Reference System which ensures that only products compatible with your medications, including birth control, are recommended.

How can I be sure that Herbal Magic natural products are safe? Herbal Magic has successfully operated in Canada since 1996 because our programs and our products are safe and effective. We actively support more regulation in our industry. Health Canada issued new requirements for product claims and formulations through the Natural Products Health Directorate (NHPD) in 2009 for all natural products. Herbal Magic welcomes this initiative. To date, we have filed applications for all 55 weight loss products sold in our stores - 27 have already received Natural Product Numbers (NPNs) while the rest have been filed and should receive approval in the next few months. As you research a weight loss program, make sure the company you are considering is taking the necessary steps to be compliant. Are Herbal Magic products effective? Our natural products are one of our three pillars of success. They help reduce cravings and speed up metabolism - and are particularly effective during those times of "emotional weakness" or "plateaus". But there is no "magic" pill or silver bullet you take that will make you lose weight overnight. If you are committed to making a lifestyle change, we will educate and support you every step of the way. It's not just about our products. Equally important is the one-on-one support you get from our Personal Health Coaches and our custom meal plans based on food you buy in the grocery store. Our success is tied to our entire program - not just one element.

Are Herbal Magic products 100% natural? Yes. Our products containing herbal extracts are made with natural ingredients. The only exception is the pill capsules/softgels that house some of our products. Our products are not all 100% herbal, though, because they include vitamins, minerals, omega 3 fatty acids and other healthy ingredients that are important for good nutrition and weight loss. These may in some instances come from synthetic sources.

Where are Herbal Magic products manufactured? Herbal Magic proprietary products are manufactured by the largest custom dietary supplements manufacturer in the United States at an FDA-certified facility. Our main supplier has been in business for more than 30 years, and their facility has strict quality control and quality assurance procedures in place. All products manufactured for Herbal Magic receive a certificate of authenticity to ensure that the product matches our exact formulas.

Do any of your products contain ephedrine? No. Our products do not contain any controversial ingredients like ephedrine or kava in any of the products we carry.
